What happened to good import cars?

I have been looking around for a good sports/tunner import car, i’m not a serious buyer or anything just, I have been noticing all the new imports are not the best looking…or performing. Heres a few examples…

Nissan-Has the 350Z, the only good car they make…what happened to the skyline??? They canceled it and turned it into a “GT-R” which looks like….Mr. Potato head.

Honda/acura-Used to have the Integra, the RSX, NSX and The older civics were nice cars. Now? They have the new civic…okay its a better performance car, but who wants to be seen driving one of those silly looking things? The only thing honda has that is worth a darn is a S2000, and it is a good car.

Mazda-RX-7=excelent. RX-8=ugh….RX-7=dead. RX-8=alive

Toyota-Celica, Supra, MR-2, all great cars…now dead. But hey, nobody wants those, people all want Prius’s

Hyundai-well I have to admit I dont know too much about them…but as far as I can tell they make the tiburon…and it appears to be a okay car.

Mitsubishi-Had the older eclipses that were nice….I cant stand the garbage new ones. Thank god they still make the Lancer evo.

Subaru-I have never like there only sports car…The Impreza WRX sti, but still it was a nice preforming car, that looked good. The new one? all I have to say is “Ha”, who wants a hatchback? not me…thats for sure.

So what are these car designers thinking??? Almost all of the new cars look hideous. I can see why the performance is going down…less bhp=better fuel efficiency. But why in the name of god would they make them look like…they do right now?

  1. acura has the rsx type S plus in 2010 or so acura will be releasing the acura nsx its suppose to have a v10 engine

toyota is planning to bring the supra back as well with a v8

honda has the civic si ya not as fast as as a supra or others but still a quick little honda

i like the new gtr it looks clean

  2. During the early years of this century the car makers noted that the public where not buying fast sporty cars and had moved onto eco cars and family cars and these took off,so the sporty cars all but a few went away, but recent times people have wanted these cars back and they are now making them again,Hopefully fuel cost etc will not send it all back again tho.

The Skyline is still being made and is now the 350gt and sold as a infiniti G35 G37 in some countries. But it lost its racey edge, although the new GTR was supposed to bring the Skyline back, but more recent times with th Skyline having a street race image Nissan did not want this to put buyers whom could afford a new one off,so it went its own way but still with the Skyline GTR heritage. The Skyline is supposed to be having it own more sporty version in the furture.

Nissan is also remaking the 240sx due out soon.

The MR2 finished in 2007 but the new Supra ws supposed to be coming out Toyota FT-HS and Toyota are saying it may wear the Supra badge.

As you say it be great to see some of the greater cars make areturn or the new ones looking better.

  3. Nissan also makes the Altima Coupe 3.5 V6 and the GTR is a freaking awesome, probably the best street legal car in production under $200,000…and its only $75,000.

Toyota turned the Celica into a Scion TC, they are only interested in high volume sales, something their coupes never could produce.
You didn’t even mention the hot Lexus IS250/350/F models.

Honda Accord Coupe V6 is very hot, better then the Altima coupe even.

Hyundai has a hot new coupe coming out called the Genesis coupe. It will be RWD with 2 engine options (I4 turbo 215HP, 3.8 V6 300HP) and looks great so far.

I guess you don’t consider European cars to be imports, so I won’t mention them.
